Each season the Association stipulates how many games each player must play to qualify for finals. You should check your team list in PlayHQ to ensure each of your players has played enough games to qualify for finals. Byes and games which your team "won" due to forfiet by the oppostion are included in the games played count.
For the Summer 2023/24 season, players are required to have played a minimum of 7 games for their team to be eligible to participate in the finals.
MEBA – Monday competition – 7 games required
MEBA – Friday competition – 7 games required
GEBC – Saturday competition – 7 games required
If any of your players have had injuries or illnesses during the season which forced them not to play for a number of weeks, they can provide a medical certificate to request an exemption from the qualifiction requirements. Please submit such requests to the Registrar for submission to the Association.
Fill In Players for the Finals
|
If you have less than 6 players qualified for finals, you are entitiled to apply for an exemption for enough fill in players to give you 6 players (but no more than that). You should contact the Registrar to apply for the exemption(s).
As a general rule:
- As with normal rounds, fill in players should come from an age group and grade lower than your team.
- If your team has had fill in players during the season, the Association will expect that any fill in players you seek exemption for finals games for, will be one of them.
- They are likely to preference their approval for players who have filled in the most
- Players approved by the Association to play in finals games will be added to the scoring program by the Association prior to the game.
The finals games details will only be shown after the fixture is updated with the results of the last normal round.
If your team played in a split grade during the season, for example: A/B1 or D/D2, it is likely that the two grades will be split for finals games, The division can be quite complicated, so please be sure to check the finals fixtures carefully and don't assume you didn't get through to finals, as some grades may skip the semi finals
For example:
If your team played in A/B1 Grade during the season, with 8 teams in that grade, the split for finals might look like this:
Season grade |
Split for finals |
Elimination Finals Week |
Grand Finals Week |
A/B1 (8 teams)
|
Top 4 teams are in A grade |
All 4 teams play
2 Elimination Finals
|
Winners of the A grade Elimination Finals play in the A grade Grand Final |
|
Bottom 4 teams are in B1 grade |
All 4 teams play
2 Elimination Finals
|
Winners of the B1 Elimination Finals play in the B1 Grand Final |
If your team played in D/D2 and there were six teams in that grade, the split for finals might look like this:
Season grade |
Split for finals |
Elimination Finals Week |
Grand Finals Week |
D/D2 (6 teams)
|
Top 2 teams are in D grade |
No Elimination Finals |
Top 2 teams go straight through to the D grade Grand Final |
|
Bottom 4 teams are in D2 grade |
All 4 teams play
2 Elimination Finals
|
Winners of the D2 Elimination Finals play in the D2 Grand Final |
Team Sheet Fees for Finals Games
|
Elimination Finals Sheet Fees are paid by the teams, so the Team Manager should collect from the families for this.
Grand Finals Team Sheet Fees are paid by the Club for all teams.
Your team will need to provide a scorer for finals games. For grand finals, the Association will usually provide a third scorer to sit on the bench and ensure each club scorer marks the score correcly.
Under 8 Games During the Finals Period
|
Under 8 teams do not play elimination and grand finals, they usually just have additional normal rounds during this period. At the end of the last game, all players are usually presented a small medal by the Association for participating in the season.
