The Kangas Way

Since 1974, Nunawading Kangas Basketball Club has been a proud part of our local community, welcoming children of all abilities to discover a love of basketball. For more than five decades, we’ve helped young players take their first steps on court, grow their skills, and represent the Kangas with pride.

We believe every child deserves the chance to play, learn, and belong. Our strong ties with local schools reflect our commitment to keeping as many kids on court as possible and ensuring basketball is accessible, inclusive, and fun for all.

At Kangas, development goes beyond the game. We nurture teamwork, resilience, sharing, and respect—life lessons that shape confident young people both on and off the court. Our coaches are supported to grow their skills and create positive, encouraging environments where players can improve at their own pace and celebrate their progress.

Through friendships, community spirit, and a shared love of basketball, the Kangas Way continues to bring families together and build a thriving, connected basketball community that stands strong across generations.

OUR PURPOSE

Create an Inclusive Basketball Community - Players, coaches, and families are welcomed into a supportive environment where everyone feels valued, included, and encouraged to participate, learn, and enjoy basketball together.
Develop Healthy and Resilient Kids - Young players are encouraged to build confidence, resilience, and healthy habits through active participation in basketball, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and positive attitudes on and off the court.
Balance Elite and Social Basketball – Players of all skill levels are supported with opportunities forboth competition and development, ensuring everyone feels challenged, valued, and included in the club’s basketball community.
Encourage Learning Fun & Friendships - Junior participants are provided with a safe and enjoyable space to learn, have fun, and build lasting friendships through shared basketball experiences.
Teach Basketball and Teamwork - Children and youth are taught fundamental basketball skills, teamwork, and respect, developing confidence, coordination, and sportsmanship that extend beyond the game into everyday life.
Grow Basketball Participation - The wider community is engaged to play, coach, and support basketball, fostering teamwork, connection, and a lifelong love for the sport.
